Surdex Steel is one of Australia’s leading steel suppliers and processing companies. Based in Victoria, we stock more than 10,000 steel products, and complement our offer with one of the most extensive ranges of steel processing services including cutting to length, drilling, cambering, plate profiling, slitting, shearing and customised cutting.

We operate 4 Melbourne branches (Steel Park and Plate Processing Dandenong South, Campbellfield and Keysborough)  along with 6 regional branches (Albury, Shepparton, Morwell, Bendigo, Warrnambool and Geelong). As a proud member of the Southern Steel Group, we work closely with the group’s 20+ branches around Australia, and have multiple distributorships with large Australian-owned mills including Bluescope, Lysaght, Stramit, Onesteel, Bisalloy and AusTube Mills, complemented by excellent international supply.In other words experience and we have the capability to handle all your steel requirements, no matter how big or small.

Our History

The Surdex Steel story started way back in 1952. That’s when Reg Geary founded Surdex Industries, in the – now, very trendy – inner suburb of Brunswick. For 12 years, he and two employees worked out of the back of the family dry-cleaning store, before expanding to Sydney Road, Brunswick. From then, the company went from strength to strength, opening new factories in Keysborough, Campbellfield and Wodonga, before becoming part of the Southern Steel Group in 1988.

Southern Steel has been around even longer than Surdex. It was founded in Wollongong NSW in 1947, and now boasts a nationwide presence. Learn more about Southern Steel Group…
